Screening
Screening is the use of tests to detect a disease in people who have no symptoms. The National Cervical Cancer Screening Program currently uses the Pap test to find precancerous changes (abnormalities) in cells of the cervix.
From 1 December 2017, the Pap test was replaced with the Cervical Screening Test. The Cervical Screening Test looks for human papillomavirus (HPV), which is the major cause of cervical cancer.
Apart from screening for cervical cancer, screening is not used for any of the other gynaecological cancers.
