What are the symptoms of vaginal cancer?
Vaginal cancer often does not cause early symptoms and may be found during a routine Cervical Screening Test. When symptoms do occur, they may be caused by vaginal cancer or by other conditions.
You should see a doctor if you have any of the following problems:
- blood-stained vaginal discharge (not menstrual bleeding)
- bleeding after sexual intercourse
- pain in the pelvic area
- a lump in the vagina.
Problems with passing urine, such as blood in the urine, the need to pass urine frequently and the need to pass urine at night, can also occur.
Pain in the rectum (back passage) may sometimes occur.
If necessary, your doctor will refer you for tests to see if you have cancer.
