Consumer participation in Priority-driven Collaborative Cancer Research Scheme (PdCCRS)

Grant Review Committees

As part of our goal to meaningfully involve people affected by cancer into the agency’s work program, Cancer Australia has provided training to consumers in how to review the responses to the PdCCRS Questions for applications submitted to the Priority-driven Collaborative Cancer Research Scheme (PdCCRS).

This training has been offered since 2008 and consumers are selected through a national, open, merit-based application process which is advertised through a call for Expression-of-Interest. The consumers receive training over two days. In alternate years, Cancer Australia offers refresher training for those consumers that have previously completed the training. Consumers trained in reviewing PdCCRS Questions are eligible to participate as members of Cancer Australia’s PdCCRS Grant Review Committees.

Expression-Of-Interest for consumer reviewers as part of Cancer Australia’s Priority-Driven Collaborative Cancer Research Scheme

Cancer Australia’s PdCCRS is an innovative, competitive, annual cancer research project grants funding scheme. The PdCCRS is conducted by Cancer Australia in partnership with other funders of cancer research.

Cancer Australia and its Funding Partners value the involvement of people affected by cancer in all aspects of the PdCCRS including the research grant application review process.

Cancer Australia has opened a national call for Expressions-of-Interest from consumers interested in participating in the Grant Review Committees for the PdCCRS.

Although experience in the review of research grants is desirable, these skills are not essential because Cancer Australia can provide access to training for the review and assessment of cancer research grant applications.

Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islanders, individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds as well as male consumers are encouraged to apply. However, we welcome applications from all consumers willing to participate in the PdCCRS.

Background information on the PdCCRS, grant application process and Expression-of-Interest can be found here.

The Expression-of-Interest application form can be found here.

Applications close: Wednesday, 25 May 2022.
